Teaching aims and materials: The Hanyu Pinyin system is used for teaching mandarin Chinese pronunciation. Simplified Chinese characters are taught as the main writing system. We use the popular Standard Chinese series as the basictextbook. We set the achievement of a GCSE examination in Mandarin as one of the learning targets for our pupils.
